The Weinstein Company Sets Up Its Fall Awards Season

Less than a week after the Oscars where The Weinstein Company took home three awards, two for Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained and one for David O. Russell's Silver Linings Playbook , the studio, notorious for its strong drive during awards season, has dated four of its recent pick-ups for the fall season.

Things kick off on October 18 with Ryan Coogler's Fruitvale , a movie that The Weinstein Company picked up in a fierce auction at the Sundance Film Festival before it won two of the festival's top prizes.

Next, on November 8, they're releasing John Wells' adaptation of the award-winning Tracy Letts play August: Osage County , starring Oscar winners Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep and Chris Cooper.
