Latest News: First Look: New Clip From Hammer of the Gods

ComingSoon.net has an exclusive first look at an almost three-minute clip from Hammer of the Gods , now available on VOD/iTunes and in theaters on July 5th.

Set in Viking Britain in 871 AD, Hammer of the Gods is a visceral, intense tale set in a world whose only language is violence. Hot News: Check Out the First Image from the Live Action Kiki's Delivery Service

Currently in production in Japan, Kiki's Delivery Service offers a live-action take on the Eiko Kadono book series that was famously adapted for the big screen by Studio Ghibli and writer-director Hayao Miyazaki in 1989. Today, Japanese film site Eigo has revealed (via Twitch ) the first image from the film, which stars Fûka Koshiba in the title role.

Said to adapt the first two novels in the series, the live-action film follows the adventures of a young witch, Kiki and her cat, Jiji.

Takashi Shimizu, best known for directing the original Japanese version of The Grudge , is helming the production, which is expected to hit theaters in Japan in 2014.

Tonight, the Film Society of Lincoln Center hosted "An Evening with Joss Whedon," which included a screening of his excellent modern dress adaptation of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing .

After the screening, which was met with rapturous applause, Whedon sat down on stage for a typically quippy Q&A session where he discussed bringing the film to the screen during a two-week "vacation" from making Marvel's The Avengers , which later became the third-highest grossing movie of all time.

He also answered several questions from the audience that Whedonites will delight in, including continuing the "Firefly" saga, video games, the ballet he wants to make, the Quicksilver rights enigma, and his enthusiasm to one day take on (drumroll)…...

Glenn Close Boards Guardians of the Galaxy

Glenn Close has joined the cast of Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy as a leading member of the intergalactic Nova Corps, Deadline reports. She'll star opposite Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond and Lee Pace in the James Gunn film.

Close, whose big screen credits range from The World According to Garp to 101 Dalmations to Mars Attacks! is also well-known for recently headlining the television series "Damages" over five seasons.

Part of Marvel Studios "Phase Two", Guardians of the Galaxy features a script from Gunn, Chris McCoy and Nicole Periman. It follows an unlikely cast of characters who must team up in order to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is currently filming in New Orleans and is only a year away from its release. Previously the only image we've seen from the sequel is of Andy Serkis as Caesar on a horse confronting a group of human survivors. Latest News: Timecop Planned for Big Screen Reboot

Dark Horse Comics' Timecop is heading back the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Universal Pictures is currently developing the property for a franchise reboot with Marc Shmuger and Tom McNulty producing.

"What a dream: to travel through time," Dark Horse's official description of the series reads, "You can change the past, the future, your future. Then imagine Max Walker, one of the Time Enforcement Commission's toughest and most extreme cops. A New Set Photo Hints at Godzilla's Path of Destruction

Legendary has tweeted a new image from the set of Gareth Edwards' upcoming Godzilla and it implies that we'll see the evacuation of the Farallon Islands, an area of land roughly 30 miles from the coast of San Francisco, where an attack by the Kaiju beast has been confirmed for the 2014 release. If we're to assume that Godzilla is moving west to east in the film, it's a good bet (although unconfirmed) that the creature's origins will fall somewhere in the vicinity of Japan.

Assassin's Creed Hitting Theaters Memorial Day 2015

Bad news for the Zombieland series that was at Amazon. After debuting the pilot episode a few weeks back, Amazon has decided not to take it to series.

Customers were invited to view the pilot and voice their feedback. That feedback was going to help Amazon determine whether it should move forward with a series. Those behind the project are welcome to take it elsewhere.

So, what does this mean for pilot director Eli Craig ( Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil )? He's got his next film set up. According to The Hollywood Reporter , he's set to direct Little Evil based on a script he penned.

The logline is being kept under wraps, but this may be the "evil kid" tale he said wanted to do while Tucker & Dale was being promoted.

Wei Tang and Leehom Wang Join Michael Mann's Cyber Thriller

Michael Mann's untitled thriller has added two new stars. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the Lust, Caution pair of Wei Tang and Leehom Wang will appear opposite Chris Hemsworth in the Legendary Pictures film.

Written by Mann with Morgan David Foehl, the thriller marks the first Mann film since 2009's Public Enemies and, while official plot details have not been released, it has been said that the storyline has to deal with cyber security.

Mann joins Jon Jashni and Thomas Tull as producers with Alex Garcia executive producing.

Sony Pictures Classics has revealed, via iTunes Movie Trailers , the first clip from Richard Linklater's highly-anticipated Before Midnight and you can check it out in the player below!

Hot News: X-Men: Days of Future Past Is Being Shot in 3D

Director Bryan Singer tweeted a new behind-the-scenes image from the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past to show off the technical side of the film's shoot. In his tweet, Singer confirmed that the film is being shot in 3D.

Images From the Pacific Rim Video Game Revealed

Guillermo del Toro's upcoming Pacific Rim is already gearing up its merchandising. Action figures are already  on the way for the film, and now we've learned about plans for a video game and a companion book.

The companion book for the film, titled Pacific Rim: Man, Machines & Monsters , is written by by David S. Cohen and will be available on June 12, 2013. Included in the book will be artwork from the film, detailed set photos, commentary from the creative team, and insight into the battle-torn world seen in the film. The Coens' Inside Llewyn Davis Arriving December 6

It's hard to believe that it's been nearly three years since Joel and Ethan Coen's last movie, True Grit , was turning into their biggest box office hit to date. Rumor has it that its follow-up and their most recent film Inside LLewyn Davis has been finished for a number of months, leaving their fans anxiously wondering when we might finally see it.

They'll have to wait a little longer though as CBS Films, who picked up the distribution rights for "Llewyn Davis" a few months back--the connection may come from the Coens' screenplay for CBS Films' Gambit remake --have set the movie's release date, giving it a limited release on December 6, 2013 and then expanding it on December 20.

Wes Craven Addresses Scream TV Series Talk

Wes Craven took to Twitter to address the Scream television series in the works at MTV. Last week, when the news broke, it was revealed Craven was in talks to helm the pilot.

"A lot of you have asked about the Scream TV series," he said via Twitter . "It's true I've been approached. My response was, it would depend on the script. If they have a great script/concept, it could be fun. If not, not."

This has been his usual response concerning any involvement in the future of the Scream franchise.

The Scream series does not have a writer, nor a locked "concept." We'll see who they bring to the table to write. Hopefully some fresh, enthusiastic blood.
