The last big movie of the month, Walt Disney Studios' Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie, opened on Thursday night with previews that brought in $ 4.2 million and now we have estimates for Friday that shows the movie's opening day to be around $ 24.2 million. On top of that, Seth MacFarlane's A Million Ways to Die in the West opened yesterday and brought in a fairly disappointing $ 6.1 million and may have trouble reaching $ 20 million over the weekend, a far cry from the $ 50 million plus opening for Ted a few years back.

Tom Hardy is set to star while Bigelow will direct and produce the film through her production shingle, First Light. Annapurna's Megan Ellison, who previously worked with Bigelow as a producer on Zero Dark Thirty, is set to produce. Annapurna's Matthew Budman will serve as Executive Producer.
