Michael McKean Joins Breaking Bad Prequel Series Better Call Saul

The "Breaking Bad" prequel spinoff "Better Call Saul" has added Michael McKean to its cast, Deadline reports. He'll play an attorney named Dr. Thurber opposite Bob Odenkirk's Saul Goodman and Jonathan Banks' Mike Ehrmantraut.

From AMC and Sony Pictures, "Better Call Saul" focuses on the evolution of the popular Goodman character before he became Walter White's lawyer. Details are few on what overall role Thurber will play, but the outlet notes that the character is "now restricted by an unusual affliction" .

Hailee Steinfeld Boards Pitch Perfect 2

The upcoming Elizabeth Banks-directed Pitch Perfect 2 has added a brand new star to its lineup. Variety reports that Hailee Steinfeld ( True Grit , Three Days to Kill ) will be joining the cast in an undisclosed role.

Steinfeld joins the returning Banks, Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow and Rebel Wilson for the big screen sequel, set for release on May 15, 2015. It is noted that Steinfeld may be set up in the sequel to take over the franchise, should a Pitch Perfect 3 move forward.

Latest News: Tribeca Film Festival Award Winners Include Chef, Zero Motivation and More

The 13th Annual Tribeca Film Festival comes to a close tonight, days after a number of awards were given out to some of the movies that premiered in competition over the past ten days, although the Heineken Audience Award ended up going to a movie that had its world premiere at another festival and is already scheduled for a theatrical release next month.

Jon Favreau's Chef , which he wrote, directed and stars in, had its premiere at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March, yet it ended up winning Tribeca's prestigious Heineken Audience Award, a $ 25,000 prize which Favreau will donate to City Harvest, "the world's first food rescue organization dedicated to feeding New York City's hungry men, women, and children."

Zack Snyder Officially Set to Direct Justice League!

A Justice League feature film is not only officially on track today, but has also announced a director. The Wall Street Journal reports that Man of Steel helmer Zack Snyder will make the ensemble blockbuster his followup to 2016's Batman vs. Superman .

"It will be a further expansion of this universe," Warner Bros. president of worldwide production Greg Silverman tells the outlet. "'Superman vs Batman' will lead into 'Justice League.'"

The Leftovers Premiere Pushed Back Two Weeks

The debut date for HBO's "The Leftovers" has changed. Instead of June 15, the series will now begin its 10-episode season on Sunday, June 29 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on HBO.

Batman vs. Superman Adds Ray Fisher as Cyborg

Ray Fisher, primarily a stage actor, has joined the cast of Zack Snyder's Batman vs. Superman in the role of Victor Stone, aka Cyborg. Variety has the news, reporting that the role is not a significant one, but one that paves the way for future big screen appearances by the Justice Leaguer.

Cyborg made his first appearance in 1980's "DC Comics Presents" #26. In the "New 52" continuity, he's a high school athlete who, after getting caught in a S.T.A.R. Labs explosion, is given powerful bionic abilities that lead to him becoming a founding member of the Justice League.

Latest News: X-Men Writer and Producer Simon Kinberg Preaches Visions of a Cross-Studio Marvel Cinematic Universe

20th Century Fox closed out their WonderCon presentation with an extended look at X-Men: Days of Future Past . A repeat of the previous CinemaCon footage, the massive action piece saw familiar on-screen mutants like Shawn Ashmore's Iceman, Ellen Page's Kitty Pryde and Daniel Cudmore's Colossus battle alongside newcomers like Omar Sy's Bishop, Adan Canto's Sunspot, Booboo Stewart's Warpath and Bingbing Fan's Blink, defending themselves against attacking sentinels with the ability to mimic mutant powers. It was announced back in February that NBC would be reviving the fan-favorite series "Heroes" for a brand new mini-series set to air in 2015 titled "Heroes Reborn." Timecop Reboot Nabs Screenwriters Brian and Mark Gunn

It was revealed last summer that Dark Horse Comics' Timecop is heading back to the big screen with Universal Pictures developing the property for a franchise reboot. Today, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Journey 2: The Mysterious Island scribes Brian and Mark Gunn will provide the screenplay.
