Paramount announced today, through The Hollywood Reporter , its plans to remake the 1991 comedy Soapdish with Ben Schwartz attached to develop the screenplay.
The original film starred Sally Field, Kevin Kline and Robert Downey Jr. (alongside a diverse supporting cast) in telling the backstage story of a television soap opera.
Schwartz, best known as a writer on "Robot Chicken" and an actor with minor roles in films like The Other Guys and Mystery Team , will also appear in the upcoming Peep World .
Alan Greisman, producer on the original film, will return for the remake, this time producing alongside Rob Reiner.
